The OXYGEN Origen exhibition is an invitation to delve into the history, science, and life of a unique space: l’Estany Petit de Alcúdia, an artificial water system that, over time, has become a natural refuge for biodiversity.
This traveling exhibition originated from the OXYGEN project, driven by the Ona Futura Foundation with the collaboration of IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) and the Alcúdia City Council. Its aim is to explain how human movement and activity can contribute to regenerating life underwater.
The OXYGEN journey is simultaneously historical, ecological, and emotional: from the ancient canals built during Alcúdia's urban growth to current scientific research that reveals a surprising phenomenon: that sports activity, if managed carefully, can improve the oxygenation and biodiversity of an aquatic ecosystem.
